Oyster Roast Thank You to Everyone!

Hi Neighbors! Just wanted to reach out and say THANKS to everyone who came out on Saturday, and a HUGE THANKS to everyone who helped make this event a big success! We couldnt do it without the help of our family, friends and neighbors. When Michael and I hosted the 1st Oyster Roast (back in 2008), we had about 30 attendees and we held it in our backyard. At that time, all it took was 2-3 bushels of oysters in the shell, a grill and a steam pot. This year, we had over 260 attendees, and we blew through 26 bushels in the shell and 20 quarts already shucked [which equates to about 7,500 oysters!!!] (not to mention the fried shrimp, shrimp & grits, seafood chowder, stuffed mushrooms, hot dogs, brats, French fries, and the loads of other items that folks brought to share)! The labor required to prepare, cook and serve that volume of food is insane and nearly all of it is done by our family members at no charge. Preparing for an event like this takes months of planning and countless hours of work and we definitely could not do it without the help of our family, friends and neighbors. THANK YOU to everyone who helped us this year. Our community is unique in many ways and events like the Oyster Roast are part of what make our community so special. Sure its fun to listen to a live band and eat some great food but the real benefit is the opportunity to meet your neighbors, make new friends and grow the relationships we have already established. We are thankful to be part of a community that fosters (and thrives on) these interactions, and we look forward to many years of continued fellowship and friendship.Andrea & Jaime
